Blog Administration, Rwanda Trip

Twelve Years…

I got a note that I had registered with Word Press 12 years ago today. If you know me from this blog, I haven’t been saying much lately. I’ve been dealing with “way too busy” on other projects – including one with a deadline I hope to meet. I’ve been doing that while fighting through writer’s block, sometimes ecstatic to get between 4 and 500 words written in a day. Even the devotionals have been a struggle, although they did show up on my Daily Enduring Truth blog. I did finish the deadline and will be submitting soon. I can get back to my main writing and editing of my devotionals.

This blog will soon be the site where I give reports from trip to Rwanda. They will be password protected while I’m over there, but it’s easy to get on the prayer list to get the daily password. Just go to my prayer list sign up and register. You have a choice of getting things in an email or a link (with password) to the blog post on this site. I will eventually unprotect those posts, but while I’m traveling, I don’t like to give out too much information. Thanks for your friendship and support. God’s blessings on you!

May 13 – Mother’s Day and Family

We spent the early part of Mother’s Day at church. While there, I got a phone call that my Bible Study at the nursing home had been canceled. I had the whole afternoon to write – and the writer’s block continued. My wife didn’t want to go out and eat today because she wanted to go out on Tuesday night to celebrate our anniversary. (Yep…it is! 39 years of marriage on May 15) Instead, she asked me to cook a steak. We had steak, corn on the cob, and salad for dinner. It turned out great. After supper, I finally got back into my writing and met my writing challenge. I got today’s devotional done before church. It was about 450 words.

May 12 – Some Days You Got It…This Wasn’t One of Those Days

Every time I started writing  I ran into writer’s block issues. Working on my devotional. Working on my short story for an anthology. Editing. Nothing seemed to work. I guess those days just happen. The devotional was the only thing I did today. Everything else avoided advancement. Those days happen. Tomorrow, I have a little less pressure. No evening class for Financial Peace. My wife wanted me to cook for Mother’s Day instead of going out, so tomorrow should be more relaxed. So…not a very long update tonight.

May 11 – Enjoy Life

My daughter loves watching me play games, in large part, because I’m so bad at them. She likes a good laugh. The current game I’m bad at is called Splatoon. But I still enjoy playing it, even when I’m yelling at myself for my lack of ability to play the game the way it’s supposed to be played.  Today, after writing my devotional of course, I spent some time playing. Well, the playing also came after the laundry. It’s been a long day and I forgot about that.  After some playing, the wife and I went to the bank because we had to deal with a problem check – the bank changed their policies. Then I wrote some more after that. So, not a very exciting day.

May 10 – Slogging Along

Today was Taco Thursday. I know. I know. But Thursday is our breakfast taco day because the ones we like are on special on Thursday! I got them earlier than normal because my wife had to go into work earlier than normal. That doesn’t mean that I got my devotional finished earlier than normal, though. I didn’t finish until about 10:00 and then it was time to get ready to go to tutoring. It was my last day and I wanted to give the kids something. I picked up pencils, then discovered I didn’t have enough. So, after I finished, I had to get a few more and take them back to the kids. The teachers at this school are amazing and gracious  They gave me a very generous gift card for a meal out with my wife. Kindergartners are much different from middle schoolers, and I really enjoy working with them.

Then, we had difficulty making dinner plans, long story, so we ran a couple of errands with dinner in between. Then, I had time to write. I got my writing challenge done, then played some Splatoon. Don’t judge me, I needed the break.
