April 22 – Making It Through the Day

Sunday’s become an extremely busy day. I need to have my devotional written by about 7:00 AM so I can finish getting ready for church. We leave the house by 7:45 and today I worked on the screen presentation. I was done before 8:15 for our 8:30 service. Then, I worked both worship services and went to Sunday School in between the two services. Then, it was on to home for lunch, then leave for the nursing home Bible study. I got back home in time for a little rest before I went back to church for our Financial Peace University class. Then, a quick run to the grocery store to get stuff for dinner, cook dinner and then, and only then do I get a chance to start writing. Today, the situation wasn’t normal, so it took me longer to do my challenge writing. Tomorrow’s a busy day, also. Laundry day…just sayin’. Then chess.

Today’s devotional was about the length I’d envisioned for this year: 390 words. April 22 – Don’t Forget to Thank God

April 8 – …And I Did Some Writing, Too

Today was Sunday. All day. I got my devotional written before we left because I needed to attend the first service if I was going to worship. Then, I had parking lot duty. We have men who take turns being on the parking lot as a presence to deter bad people from thinking cars in the lot are easy targets. I get a lot of good exercise on those days. After that, I counted money as part of the finance committee. And, as Sundays go, I came home, ate lunch and then left almost immediately to go to the nursing home for the Bible Study. Then, came home for a partial time of relaxation, in time to get ready to head back to the church for our Financial Peace University Class. I’m excited to have co-coordinators working with me…they’re good as they showed tonight! Then it was home to cook dinner, clean dishes, and try to write. I was trying to write the devotional for the day I was missing, but had a lot of distractions. I still have a bit more to write tomorrow. I’m hoping to finish that early, and then begin editing the April part of the book. I really want to get caught up on the editing so I can have the devotional books through the end of June out in order!

With this full of a day, no other reading (other than the Bible)

March 25 – Palm Sunday – A Full Day

I got to church at 7:45 AM to set up the program for the screens. I worked our 8:30 and 11:00 worship service and attended Sunday School at 9:45. After the 1100 worship service, my daughter demanded grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch, so I had to stop at the store and buy something. By the time I’d finished making lunch, it was almost 1:00. I finally finished my devotionals and had a few minutes before leaving for the nursing home where I do a Bible Study at 2:00. Got home for a little rest before leaving for church for an evening fellowship. I didn’t stay the whole time, so I got home at 7:00…worn out. I took the day off from writing, except for the devotional.

Oh, and my wife left for a conference today, so no amazing wife around here for the next couple of days. I miss her already.

Maybe I’ll get my act together tomorrow…..

March 18 – Sunday Writing

It’s always difficult to find time to write on Sundays. We leave the house by 7:45 AM to go to church. We have duties, usually, in both the 8:30 and the 11:00 worship services. We have Sunday School at 9:45. So we’re there from 7:45 til about 12:15, depending on how long we talk afterwards. I come home, fix lunch, and then I do a Bible Study at a nursing home from 2:00 to 2:30. Today, we had a meeting about security at our church at 4:00 that lasted til about 5:20, then I had to shop and get food for the next few days. I came home, fixed supper, ate, and then got to do my story writing. Today I finished my devotional before church.

Some Christian writers I know take Sunday’s off from writing to get a full day of rest. Sundays are a day of service for me anyway.

So, today’s writing: March 18 – What Does It Take To Believe? 473 words. Then, 481 words on my back story. I had fun using a Mary Poppins reference in a story set in 2035.

Tomorrow – Lucy plans on driving herself to work, so I should be able to spend most of the morning writing. I have chess clubs to work with from 2:30 – 5:30 (driving time included.) We’ll see what else I can get done.
