April 1 – Celebrating the Resurrection!

Today was Resurrection Sunday. We probably slept ten minutes later than we should have, but I still got my devotional of 513 words written before I left for church. That makes the afternoon go a little bit smoother. One of the problems of doing a Bible reading plan that takes you through the Bible in a year is that Bible passages don’t always match up with what’s happening on the church calendar. We had to be at church early today because I was working the screens and Lucy, my wife, was taking part in a reading of the Apostle’s Creed and they wanted to rehearse the reading. We didn’t get there til about 8:00, but I had done some of the screen work on Wednesday night, so there was a lot less to do, although it would have been nice if I’da checked the wording on one specific song. Just sayin’.

We got home from church, ate, and it was practically time to go do my Nursing Home Bible study. A couple of weeks ago I discovered that one of the men who shows up at the Bible Study is the father of one of my former co-workers. After that, I was able to relax, catch up on a few things I wanted to do. After supper I finally began editing and made my regular progress with editing of 6 days worth of devotionals. After that, I got a little cleaning done. Now, I’m ready for bed. Tomorrow will be a long day!

March 30 – Moving Ahead of the Game

I began the day with my devotional – 517 words. It took me awhile to get it written. Then, I took some time to visit a bunch of your blogs in between times of taking care of our dog. When my wife came home from work, we ran some errands and spent some time together. After we got back home, I began editing hoping to get 4 days worth of devotionals done. I got a couple of days done, then took care of supper. I keep trying new things. Some work, some don’t. Tonight I made kabobs that were fair. We may try them again. Then, the Cubs came on and I edited during the breaks between innings. It turned out to be a 17 inning game and I ended the day with 6 days of devotionals edited. Tomorrow, I should begin editing the June devotionals. I hope to have them finished by April 8.

Starting Monday, I’ll include information about what I’m reading as well.

March 29 – A Long Day, And Do I Owe People!

I finished my devotional a little later than I should have today and had to leave almost immediately to go to tutoring. This being the first day of baseball season, I wore my Cubs jersey. Living in Corpus Christi, the location of the Astros AA team the Hooks, I’ve become an Astros fan in the American league, but my first love is still the Cubs. After tutoring, I got money from the bank for the first half of April since we didn’t know when they would close. Then I went grocery shopping. It took me an extra 30 minutes because people wanted to talk about the Cubs. One of the workers pulled out her phone to show pictures she’d taken at Wrigley Field a few years ago. Then, I began some editing while watching a replay of the game. That evolved into cooking supper when my wife came home, and then more editing to get my quota for the day.

I owe people because a lot of you have stopped by and I haven’t returned the favor. I’m planning on doing that tomorrow. I do appreciate you stopping by.

This morning’s devotional – 501 words: March 29 – Fishing on the Other Side of the Boat

I only edited 4 days of devotionals today due to the busy-ness of the day. I’m up to May 23. I would like to finish May before the end of the month and get June done the first week of April.

Daily Work

March 25 – Palm Sunday – A Full Day

I got to church at 7:45 AM to set up the program for the screens. I worked our 8:30 and 11:00 worship service and attended Sunday School at 9:45. After the 1100 worship service, my daughter demanded grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch, so I had to stop at the store and buy something. By the time I’d finished making lunch, it was almost 1:00. I finally finished my devotionals and had a few minutes before leaving for the nursing home where I do a Bible Study at 2:00. Got home for a little rest before leaving for church for an evening fellowship. I didn’t stay the whole time, so I got home at 7:00…worn out. I took the day off from writing, except for the devotional.

Oh, and my wife left for a conference today, so no amazing wife around here for the next couple of days. I miss her already.

March 21 – Re-imagining and Writer’s Block

Timing worked better this morning. I got the devotional and the challenge writing done early today. Then, I went to my short story where I’m dealing with notes from an editor that are causing me to make some changes and I stared at where I left off. Then, I did something else. Then I went back, and I did something else. Finally, I wrote about 350 words…and every one of them was a struggle.

Devotional: 415 Words –  March 21 – Out With the Old, In With the New

Challenge Writing / Back Story – 556 words

Main Short Story – 350 words.

I need to keep on writing…..

I did get a nice offer to help us with our trip to Rwanda. Driftwood Coffee will be helping us out of the proceeds from their web based sales from April and May.  Fine coffee, beautiful mugs, and cool T-shirts. Check them out!
