March 24 – Almost Like a Day Off

The writing challenge I’m involved in is to write a certain number of words 5/7 days per week. I’ve written 6 days this week, so I took that writing off. I did get my devotional done, late, after sleeping in. The devotional was 422 words. I also finished editing the short story for the local author anthology. My  local writers group had helped me look at the first draft. I hope I addressed their concerns. I got the idea one morning and wrote the first draft pretty quickly.

Morning Devotional of 422 words: March 24 – Seeing Needs Around Us

Tomorrow will be a busy day: church, nursing home Bible Study, then evening church.

March 23 – Making Progress

I’m making progress. I did my morning devotional, although I was running a bit late, and then got my challenge writing done. Instead of working on the short story that had given me writer’s block, I worked on a different one for a local anthology and edited a little over half today. I should finish tomorrow, although tomorrow will be a busy day. Deadline to submit that work is March 31. Considering how my penchant in the past was to procrastinate, the fact that I’m almost done is amazing.

Today’s Devotional was 470 words: March 23 – Give In to Temptation or Trust and Obey?

The challenge writing was 467 words and I’m never sure how to count editing.

March 22 – Kindergartners, Dogs, and Cooking

I got off to a good start today. I got breakfast taken care of. I wrote my devotional. I got the 400+ words for my challenge done. Then, I needed to go and tutor. I tutor Kindergartners at a local school. I think we all need to give back to our community, and I do that by teaching kids chess and tutoring kindergartners – among other things. Then I shopped for meals through Saturday night. When I got home and ready to write, my daughter’s dog decided I needed canine companionship, so she slept against my legs most of the rest of the afternoon. For some reason, that makes it difficult for me to write and I didn’t go forward any more on my main short story. I was reminded that there’s another anthology for local writers that I’m trying to submit to, and the deadline is SOON! so tomorrow I need to edit that story after I get everything else done. When my wife returned home after a board meeting, I had to cook. We’re trying to eat healthier – which means a lot more work. If it helps us feel better and healthier, it’s worth it!

Daily Devotional: 393 words. March 22 – In The Presence of the Lord

Challenge writing – 429 words

March 17 – Eking Out Words

I write better in the morning, really I do. I had some issues come up this morning and I didn’t get to finish my devotional til noon. I won’t go into my actions, except to say that I wasn’t procrastinating. All these actions were necessary.

My Morning Devotional, March 17 – The Nature of Evil and the Goodness of God, was 483 Words.

I eked out 474 words in my back story. I did get some help with the first sentences.

Original was: “Randall Stevenson yawned. There may have been a more boring job somewhere in the universe, but he couldn’t imagine what it would be.”

Without filler: “Randall Stevenson yawned. If a more boring job existed in the universe, he couldn’t imagine it. ”

Tomorrow is a church day, and those are always busy for me. I hope I can get more writing done, though.

Why This Site?

Today begins the long range process of making this my “go-to” site for all of my writing and business. I’ll journal here at the end of each day with a quick update on my activities as a writer. I’ll link to other blog posts I’ve made, just so that it’s all gathered together. If I know of special deals on the books of other friends who are authors, they’ll be posted here. When I release a book or have special pricing on my books, I’ll let you know here. My devotionals will still go on the Daily Enduring Truth blog. I’ll share my personal writing and book reviews at Ice Cream Castles in the Air. If you want to know what I’m doing as a writer, though, this is the place to start. Eventually, this will be the site to join my email list…as soon as I can figure out how to get it going.
